Upper Gallery Landing with Squared Limestone Wall Cladding

Limestone wall cladding gives this upper landing the weight of masonry while keeping a quiet, residential scale. Squared blocks in cream, honey, ochre and grey are laid in level courses across the end wall and continue behind the timber posts and curved braces of the stair gallery, where a small stained glass panel is set into the stone. A carved dark wood cabinet stands against the cladding, and the warm tones of the blocks answer the colours of the large arched stained glass window opposite. The floor here is timber, so the stone is used purely as a wall surface. Suited to landings, galleries, studies and sitting rooms.
