A specialist in limestone for residential architecture.
Limestone chosen for the architecture it serves, from the front door to the furthest room.
Natural stone, specified with care.
Ancient Surfaces is a specialist in limestone for residential architecture. We help architects, interior designers, builders and homeowners bring natural stone into the home, choosing limestone whose colour, scale and surface suit the rooms it will live in, and coordinating its crating and delivery to site.
Our work spans the whole house. Large floor slabs and long planks for halls, living rooms and terraces; squared blocks for clad walls and chimney breasts; carved fireplace surrounds and range hoods; stone for kitchens and bathrooms; and the door surrounds and steps that mark an entrance. We describe every stone honestly and only from what it shows, and we never present a visual impression as a technical specification.
Ancient Surfaces has appeared on the front covers of Architectural Digest in May 2011 and LUX Magazine in November 2012, which says something about how our stone and architectural antiques are regarded within the design world.
We supply private residences across Manhattan, Jersey City and Newark, and projects nationwide and abroad through worldwide crating and delivery. Every limestone floor, wall and surround we supply becomes part of how a family lives now.
Restraint, always.
We let natural limestone do the work. We recommend stone for how well it suits a room rather than how loudly it photographs, we say so plainly when a question belongs with your architect or installer, and we respond personally to every enquiry from our New York office.
