Kitchen with a Carved Limestone Hood and Tumbled Limestone Floor

A carved limestone range hood is the centrepiece of this warm Mediterranean kitchen. Its curved front carries a deep frieze of scrolling acanthus around a central rosette beneath a stepped cornice, and it rests on two scrolled corbels that frame the cooktop and a painted tile panel. The surrounding splashback is laid in small tumbled stone pieces. Across the floor, tumbled limestone in honey, gold, grey and blush is set in a random rectangular pattern, its rounded edges and varied tones softening the scale of the large island. Beyond the arch, a breakfast room wall is faced in rough stone. Suited to Mediterranean and traditional family kitchens.
